Holland America Line’s Pinnacle Class ships, Koningsdam (2016), Nieuw Statendam (December 2018) and the Brand-New Rotterdam (launching this year) forward the nautical heritage, signature service and classic style for which Holland America Line is known—while raising the bar for 21st-century elegance.
These beautifully appointed, perfectly sized 2,666-guest ships feature familiar elements that reflect the company’s rich heritage, together with state-of-the-art enhancements in grand, light-filled spaces; visual drama; and sumptuous interiors inspired by the fluid curves of musical instruments and created by leading hospitality designer Adam D. Tihany and designer and architect Bjørn Storbraaten.
At the ships’ heart is a breathtaking central atrium, soaring three decks high and capped by a ceiling that serves as a backdrop for subtly changing high-definition projections. By day you’ll see wispy cirrus clouds floating overhead. In the evening, the atrium takes on dramatic lighting hues or reflects the clear constellations of the night sky. Each ship showcases US$4 million worth of precious art and sculpture, displayed for guests to enjoy as part of the living environment.
Guests will enjoy dining in a choice of venues, from the elegant two-tier dining room to more intimate culinary experiences at Rudi’s Sel de Mer, the Pinnacle Grill or the Pan Asian Tamarind, draught lager and continental snacks at the Grand Dutch Café, and more informal fare at the Lido Marketplace, Italian style Canaletto and the casual New York Pizza & Deli.
Incredible shows take place at The Main Stage, including BBC Earth Frozen Planet and Planet Earth II concerts, while guests may enjoy classical strings, 50 years of chart hits at Billboard Onboard and BB Kings Blues at Music Walk. New for 2019 will be the “Rock Room” courtesy of a new partnership with Rolling Stone Magazine. In the Crow’s Nest, Explorations Central (EXC) offers a range of sophisticated online and personalised destination resources to help travellers make the most of the destinations they are visiting, according to their own interests.
With sophisticated décor and amenities, staterooms (70% offering a private verandah) feature thoughtful modern touches such as bedside USB ports, frameless shower doors and customized wood cabinets. There are also exclusive Family Ocean-view Staterooms that can accommodate up to five people, and specially designed single staterooms for solo travellers.
Named Rotterdam, a powerful and symbolic moniker honouring cruise ships of our past, this Holland America new ship (and new flagship) is the third in our Pinnacle-class fleet. Rotterdam hits all the right notes: exquisite dining, innovative entertainment, superbly appointed staterooms and suites, the finest service and craftsmanship that reflects nearly 150 years of seafaring expertise. Music is front and centre on this new cruise ship and the result is a ship that moves—not only through water, through the hearts of guests. Rotterdam will be the soundtrack of discovery from that very first day to the end of each perfect night.
