South Atlantic Islands

The islands of Tristan da Cunha, Ascension and St. Helena, amongst some of the remote places on the planet, offer many a treasure of the intrepid traveller. Tristan da Cunha is a volcanic island rising fairly steeply to over 6700 feet above sea level.  St. Helena, just over 1300 miles north of Tristan da Cunha, and 700 miles southeast of Ascension, is approximately 1200 miles west of Africa. Both of the latter islands are also volcanic in nature and, whilst each offers their own unique charms and attractions, all offer incredible opportunities for wildlife spotting, walking and a true sense of being 'away from it all.'
