Silver Wind combines the intimate atmosphere of a small luxury ship with the capabilities of an expedition vessel. Carrying up to 274 guests and supported by 239 crew, she offers a high level of personal service alongside elegant suites and welcoming public spaces. Her strengthened ice-class hull, completed as part of a 2021 refurbishment, allows her to sail in polar regions as well as visit more traditional cruise destinations, giving you the flexibility to experience a wide range of environments aboard one ship.

With a relaxed, understated style, Silver Wind offers plenty of places to unwind between adventures. You can enjoy panoramic ocean views from the Observation Library, settle into the Panorama Lounge or spend time on the Pool Deck. For expedition voyages, the ship carries 24 Zodiac boats, providing opportunities to explore remote coastlines and access locations beyond conventional ports.

Silver Wind offers a choice of spaces for relaxation and entertainment. The Pool Deck features a swimming pool, whirlpools and loungers arranged in sunny and shaded areas, while the Fitness Centre provides equipment and classes to help you maintain your routine at sea. For a little pampering, the Zagara Beauty Spa offers treatments including massages and facials, with a separate beauty salon available for hair and other services.

In the evenings, you can enjoy live piano music and cocktails at Dolce Vita, take in the views from the Panorama Lounge or attend entertainment in The Show Lounge. The ship also has a boutique, a photo studio and Connoisseur’s Corner, where you can enjoy a cigar with a choice of spirits. On expedition cruises, the Zodiac fleet adds another dimension to the onboard experience, helping you get closer to the landscapes and wildlife encountered along the way.

Silver Wind offers four dining venues, with menus ranging from international favourites to Italian specialities and fine French cuisine. The Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, combining familiar dishes with flavours inspired by the destinations visited. La Terrazza offers buffet-style breakfast and lunch, followed by Italian dishes for dinner, including handmade pasta and seafood.

For a more informal meal, The Grill is located beside the pool and serves salads, grilled seafood and steaks. La Dame provides a more refined experience, with French-inspired tasting menus showcasing seasonal ingredients and detailed presentation. With a range of settings and styles to choose from, dining can be as relaxed or as special as you wish, while in-suite dining offers another option when you prefer to eat in the privacy of your suite.

All accommodation aboard Silver Wind is suite-based, with 149 suites offering a comfortable retreat after time spent exploring ashore. Options range from Vista Suites, with large picture windows framing the sea views, to Veranda Suites with furnished private teak verandas. Inside, the suites combine elegant furnishings with separate areas for relaxing, while floor-to-ceiling glass doors in veranda categories help bring the outside scenery into your living space.

For more room, higher-category accommodation includes Medallion, Silver, Royal, Grand and Owner’s Suites. These offer progressively more space and additional features, with larger living areas and, in selected categories, more expansive verandas. Butler service is part of Silversea’s all-suite experience, adding a personal touch throughout your stay. The range of suite styles means you can choose the level of space and privacy that best suits your holiday.

Best for...

Sophisticated international travellers who enjoy unusual destinations yet want a hint of traditional formality, complete with butler service

Not the best for...

Young families and American-centric cruisers who like to be casual all the time

Who goes on Silversea cruise ships?

Silversea caters to Baby Boomers, affluent and often retired, with the leisure and the resources to make Silversea their cruise line of choice. Silversea Expeditions also appeals to that demographic, as well as younger professionals with a desire for active cruising that includes posh cabins and stellar service alongside Zodiac expeditions, snorkelling excursions and in-port hikes. Shorter classic voyages also tend to draw younger passengers. About 60 percent of passengers onboard come from the Americas, the rest from international markets.

Do I have to dress up on a Silversea cruise?

Yes, if you are going on a classic cruise ship; no if you're sailing on a luxury expedition cruise. The classic ships divide evenings among casual resort wear, informal attire (for men, this means a jacket, tie optional, and women wear dresses or pantsuits) and formal nights when eveningwear for women is an evening gown or cocktail dress and men wear tuxedos, dinner jackets or dark suits, and a tie is required. The dress code is more casual on the expedition vessels, and there are no formal nights.

Is everything included on Silversea cruises?

Silversea cruises are fairly inclusive, with the only extras being shore excursions (except on Silversea's expedition cruises on which they're included in the cruise price), shop purchases, spa and beauty treatments, and send-out laundry. Some speciality restaurants also cost extra (and caviar on the room service menu). Cruise fares include gratuities, unlimited beverages (soft and alcoholic), internet access and round trip transportation into town in most ports. Most itineraries also include transfers to/from the ship, and some even include complimentary round trip economy airfare.

What are Silversea's most popular activities?

Onboard, each Silversea cruise ship has a pool and hot tubs that see a lot of action, and the spa gets a lot of use, as well. Silversea cruisers also enjoy attending lectures on the culture and history of the destinations they visit, and like to spend time in the library. Evening shows, which range from opera-themed to swing-era classics, also draw a crowd. When in port, most Silversea cruisers opt for one of the line's many shore excursion offerings. Expedition cruises bring cruisers together with experts to lead hiking, Zodiac, snorkelling, diving and other small group excursions.
